Markets
Here you will find our publications in which we regularly comment on and contextualise economic events, particularly with regard to interest rate trends and the economy.

In his weekly commentary, Dr. Cyrus de la Rubia also addresses current topics ranging from monetary policy to commodity markets and blockchains. (german only)

Global Trade Tracker
ECB Watcher
As a rule, the ECB’s decisions do not fall from the sky, but can often be deduced in advance based on the mood within the ECB. To this end, we analyse the speeches given by ECB members in the run-up to each interest rate decision and can thus determine how the members are likely to decide. The publication appears every six weeks.
ECB decision in charts
Central bankers often speak in riddles, and this also applies to the European Central Bank. Every six weeks after the interest rate decision has been announced and the press conference held, this publication contextualises what the President of the ECB actually said. It is therefore important to read between the lines and deduce where monetary policy is heading.
China Quarterly
The publication China Quarterly provides an overview of current economic and political developments. In particular, we shed light on the Chinese statistical authority’s figures, which are not always easy to understand, in a way that quickly reveals the direction the economy is heading. The publication appears quarterly.
Monitoring of OPEC quotas
OPEC influences prices on the oil market by setting production quotas. How strong the influence is depends, among other things, on how disciplined the OPEC members are with regard to production quotas. This publication shows at a glance whether OPEC is adhering to the quotas and which countries may be deviating from them. The publication appears every two months.
Financial market trends and long-term forecasts
In this publication, we provide our view of the economic situation in the markets driving the global economy, interest rates, the euro, dollar and a number of other currencies, as well as the oil and equity markets. The financial market trends appear at the end of the year.
Focus topics
In this publication, Economics explores a wide range of topics in depth. They include current political developments, monetary policy issues and country reports. The Focuses appear at irregular intervals.
Studies
In our studies, we focus on topics that either relate to specific sectors or are particularly topical. The studies appear at irregular intervals.
Decentralized finance (DeFi) describes business models that are stored as software or smart contracts on a decentralized blockchain and enable financial transactions to be carried out without intermediaries. DeFi has the potential to completely redefine the role of financial institutions. In the new HCOB study, which we developed together with Bitbond, we highlight special features and use the DeFi platform Compound to see whether DeFi is a real alternative to traditional finance.
