General
What is job sharing?
In this flexible working time model, two employees share one position and work closely together in a tandem partnership. The tandem defines tasks, areas of responsibility and working hours flexibly among themselves and jointly fulfills the requirements of the respective position.
What is the difference between job sharing and job splitting and part-time work?
Job splitting is very similar to traditional part-time work, as one job is split into two independent areas. With job sharing, on the other hand, the skills complement each other. Job sharing is used for positions that cannot be split. It is therefore also suitable for senior positions, managers and board members. The responsibility for the position and the associated tasks are borne jointly by both parties.
Is job sharing something for me?
A prerequisite for this is close teamwork, clear communication and a high degree of loyalty and reliability. It is interesting for anyone who wants to work flexibly and at the same time is not looking for a typical part-time job. Job sharing is a suitable model for anyone who wants to do their job part-time and feels comfortable with intensive teamwork.
Which positions can be filled in job sharing?
All newly advertised positions will be marked with the addition “job sharing” and can generally be filled as a tandem. We proactively support job sharing and are also happy to receive tandem applications.
How do I find a tandem person?
On your own initiative: Often there are already contacts with whom personal and professional characteristics are known to such an extent that job sharing with this person already seems conceivable. There are also platforms on the internet where you can find another tandem partner.
Application
How do I apply as a tandem?
We also look forward to receiving meaningful tandem applications including the individual job sharing concept (including time allocation, skills and experience, etc.). Either as two individual applications with reference to the tandem partnership or one joint application.
Can I also apply for a job sharing position on my own?
No. Please only apply together as a tandem.
Contractual structure
What is the percentage of working hours in a job-sharing position?
This depends on the individual position. As a rule, the working hours exceed 100% and are 20 – 40% more than a full-time position, as a certain overlap is essential for the handovers.
Is the job sharing limited in time?
In principle, job sharing is not limited in time unless the position to be filled or the employment contract contains a time limit. It also depends on the individual reasons for the job sharing. It may be possible, for example, that a tandem deliberately only shares a position for a certain period of time, e.g. due to already agreed leaving dates.
Can the tandem work at different locations?
Yes, it is possible for people from different locations to form a tandem.
Is there a joint contract for the tandem?
No, each employee receives an individual employment contract in which job sharing is mentioned.
How is working time distributed in tandem?
How many hours you work per week is determined by your individual employment contract. Each tandem determines the distribution of working hours individually. This ensures that a contact person is always present during the week.
Working in tandem
What characterizes working in tandem?
The special thing about job sharing is the way it works: collaboration, sparring and intensive cooperation based on trust. You also learn in tandem from each other. Another advantage of job sharing compared to part-time staffing is that colleagues or customers still have a contact person. Job sharing also improves the work-life balance for the tandem employees.
Can I continue my career in job sharing?
Of course – although it will be important that the tandem partnership is aware of the development potential of their joint position and that there is agreement on the content of the path taken.
What happens if one person in the tandem is ill or on vacation?
A duty of representation is not legally required, but can be contractually agreed. In practice, however, there are usually verbal agreements regarding mutual representation. After all, it is also in the interests of the tandem partnership to be able to rely on comprehensively informed representation in this case, too.
What happens if a tandem person drops out?
Then together we will find a solution that both you and we as an employer will be satisfied with. The individual employment contract exists independently of the tandem partnership.
Health, well-being and performance are in close harmony. We want our employees to feel comfortable and safe in their workplace and support this with numerous offers.
